Monika Leová, half Vietnamese and Czech, is the top 10 finalists of Miss Czech Republic

Commentary: It is a great news that a Vietnamese descent’s aspirations are within reach. It is intriguing that Monika Leová does not carry her Vietnamese father last name. Is it done to prevent discrimination or prejudice?

However, the polish daughters Edyta Rose Krejner and Violetta Mai Krejner, who won the Miss Vietnam in Poland  did not carry a Vietnamese last name either. It is strange phenomenon!

  1. Petr Stepanek says:

I am not sure whether she realy doesnt use her father family name. In czech language we use a diffent form of family name for women – mostly adding the “ova” – this law is applied often even for foreign family names (e.g. quite frequently occured German family names). So the corresponding “men” version of “Leova” family name is “Leo” or “Le”. I am not sure, whether it is her father family name, but for sure it is not a common Czech family name.
